Renault customer service

Several years ago I had a Renault 19 that needed new break pads at just about every service (9K) - they were just incredibly soft. In the end I got sick of paying out for these and put in a set of Kwikfit pads (much cheaper than Renault) which lasted for just over 35K miles before they were replaced (free of charge).

The handbook says 7.7 litres of oil??? I don't know??? And yes it is a big engine 2.2tTD
Took it to garage yeterday to have work done, they changed the oil, and oil filter, safety check and washed it all for £29.99, sorry but I still think it is good value.

friend of mine always books his car in for first thing in the morning and tells then he is local and needs the car asap, and to phone him when it is done, they phone him at say 11am he says "cheers I'll be round this afternoon" he goes and picks it up just before closing time, they have put say 4 hours labour @ £80, but he comes back with "well i dropped it off at 8.30 and you phoned me at 11.00 so thats 2.30 labour"
Eventually they cave inUnless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0 -

There is a nasty thing in the industry called "Book Hours" this is how long the manufactuer says a job will take, and therefore how much a dealer can charge, any halfway decent decent mechanic will do the job a lot faster than the "Book" says, and most mechanics aill work to make sure their percentage is above 120% that is they are billing 12 hours work (according to the book) for every 10 hours worked.
Know thine enemy!Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0 -

You can buy the oil for £7 at a motor factors and change it for nothing.
