Also - start a spending diary!
You'd be amazed how the odd bit here for a newspaper and the odd pound there for a sandwich really mounts up and goes totally unaccounted for every month

You'll be offered lots of advice on here so write a list of things to look at so you don't get too over awed by it all.

Look all around Martin's site too as well as the forum, there is loads of information and excellent links to reliable comparison sites for you to check out!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Simon. How old are the oldest debts you have. I mean do you have credit cards or loans going back years?

    yes they are

    Good.
Don't let your bank try to push you into taking a secured loan to consolidate everything!

Do at least consult CCCS as other have suggested, they can give excellent advice and unlike the sharks that advertise on TV, they won't charge you.

Is your wife totally on board with sorting all this out?
