The letter 'c' has come off my Dell Latitude D600 laptop keyboard.
Underneath is a little black rubber cup. If I keep this in place (it's detached too) I can use the 'c' key, but it makes typing a bit slow.
Can I reaffix the rubber cup and the plastic cover myself (superglue?) or should I take it to a PC doctor? (It's out of warranty.)
Thanks for any help.

That doesn't sound like a design I'm familiar with; can you take photos of the keycap, the 'cup' and the keyboard and put them online somewhere?
If you can't repair it, you might be able to get a new spare keyboard out of Dell. I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to buy one for a six year old Toshiba consumer laptop for about 30 quid.0 -
Dell don't tend to stock spare parts for long after the machine is discontinued. Ebay might be your best bet.

I haven't quite got the hang of Photobucket so I might not be able to do that...Dell don't tend to stock spare parts for long after the machine is discontinued. Ebay might be your best bet.

Do I need a spare part? I have all the bits - the plastic cover with the 'spring' attached to the back and the little rubber cup-shaped 'button'.
I think I might take it to PC World (I know, I know) and pay a nice young man to fix it for me.
Failing that, I guess I'll try to buy another keyboard - it's very annoying as it is, since each 'c' takes about 3 seconds to type because I have to keep readjusting the position of the little rubber button.0 -
it should just click back on...
the rubbercup is a suction cup type so if you push it down it should click back on...or take it to the shop it shouldn't take a guy long to un-screw it and put it back ...
or get a usb keyboard and use that for now...:D

Agree that with a bit of fiddling around you should be able to clip it back on - unless the little retaining tabs on the back of the key have been broken.
Try fixing it back on - wiggle it around whilst applying some gentle downward pressure. You'll know when/if it clicks back into place

Oh dear, what a fuss I've made about nothing.
I took my courage in my index finger and pressed very hard.
It's fine now. Pretend I never spoke.
