What can my problem be then i ive in a 4 bed mid terrace house, the following is what I use per annum KWH.

    electric 6366 pa
    530 pm

    Gas

    22000 pa
    1833 pm

no one home all day apart from school holidays.
  • Just for those comparing gas usage...beware that there are both metric and imperial meters sill out there, so your usage may seem high compared with someone else bu they have a different meter type.

Also, NPower's "average" units per day (upd) ranges for a 2 bed house are between 15 and 30 upd for electric, although i've seen far lower and 3 -5 upd on imperial gas meters, 5-9 on metric. (As used by their billing team when checking incorrect reads)

As for me...current usage (one person 2 bed mid terrace) Gas - 284 and elec - 700 base don my last three months.

In a year I use 1600Kwh electricity gas no idea- not much though as I won't be putting it on til November. That's a 3 bedroom house but just me here most of the time.
I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

    We sound quite good then.

Large rooms, 3 bed detached, family of four - 68 units electric a week and 3 of gas. That's now - summer use.

Cavity wall insulation but no loft insulation at moment (but it's on order). Had a new combi boiler 12 years ago. Loads of washing and we use a dishwasher on days when we have a full load but don't own a tumble dryer - always dry outside/utility.

Editted due to error found by Whatatwit below....ought to change my name to Imatwit.

  • I'm 1 year into my new build 3 bedroom midterrace house. Condensing combi boiler into hotwater tank. Shower powered from this.
Half electricty is for fishtank (their life support is killing my usage figures), fridge costs £10 per month (payback for new one 5 years). 1 or 2 people living here does not change the useage figures.

Below is my spreadsheet I keep track of, compare where I was last september to this september.

Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

That's impressive Andy, dare I ask, what happened in March :D

Can you not tell the fish to swim a bit faster or put some more scales on to keep warm.

  • In November I bought the fish tank and started to check where I'm wasting electricity (with one of those plug meters) so it does not seam a big jump.

In March I got a lodger and it was a cold month (or I just felt colder)
April was the last month of heating being on.

    May, June, July very constant.
At the end of July I invested around £50 on energy saving products (boiler jacket, eco showerhead and tap inserts , spent a bit of time to sort the boiler timer for optimum usage.

At the start of September my lodger moved out.

Comparing september both years My electricity has gone up by 30% but my gas has gone down by 57%
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

I'm a dope! Sorry, the 3 per week is Gas (summer use) but electric is 68 a week so, yes, 10 a day - just like you.

    Apologies.
