How much do people pay?
We are about to move from a 3 bed semi to a five bed detached house and are wondering about the jump in gas/electric usage. We are staying with Scottish Power and at the moment we pay £67 combined per month. This has been easily enough (we actually had it reduced at the start of the year) and our account is in credit. SP suggested paying £84 per month for the first 3 months then reviewing our DD.
Just wondered if this seems realistic for the size of property bearing in mind the recent price increases?

Its impossible to say - we dont know how much gas/electric you use
I currently pay £168 per month on a 4 bed semi - i would imagine you will see an increase in your bills - how much? Only time will really tell. Does it have a decent boiler? More radiators?0 -
We have a modern (2003) 4 bed detached and also pay £84 a month. I'm careful with how much energy we use and think we actually use about £70 worth before standing charges. The gas usage is mostly a factor of the house, boiler, insulation, but the electricity usage depends more on appliances (fridges, freezers mostly) how people in the house behave.
My best advice is to make a spreadsheet to keep an eye on the usage by weekly readings until you are sure it's stable.0 -

We pay £85 per month on a 4-bed detached. I work from home so that includes daytime heating costs during the winter.
Wow - £168/month for one poster! :eek:0
