Yes, absolutely. Every so often, some imbecile thinks they can nick tax disks and resell them down the pub. But it soon dies out, because nobody which 0.5p of sense wants to be done for having the tax disk of another vehicle on display.report the loss/theft though.....After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0 -

By the time it gets covered in dirt/waterlogged it might be hard to tell the difference.
Although not something I do myself, it is common for people on bikes to keep the tax disc under the seat/in their wallet etc
As it's £7 for a replacment disc it may be a better idea just to buy a new one at £15
You can also buy metal disc holders for about £10 which are slightly harder to tamper with than the standard plastic ones0 -
Does anyone know if the DVLA will charge me to replace an existing disk please?
Yes it's about £7 for a new one.
Stoplock do a tax disc destroyer to make sure the people that steal the tax disc can't use it. It works on car tax discs, don't know though whether they make one for mopeds. You see them all the time on e-bay. They work by attaching the tax disc to a super-sticky surface and then attaching it to the window. If anyone tries to peel it off, the sticky surface splits in half and shreds the tax disc.
Now all I need is some device to stop people stealing my ariel. I was tempted to see if I could wire the battery up to the ariel in such a way that when someone touches the ariel and the car body they get 12v shot through their arm - hee, hee!0 -

id be surprised if someone hasnt already rigged that up0 -
Used to be £15 for a duplicate. Nice to see its reduced to 7. I suppose OP could not bother getting a new one, and tell the copper it is at home because it always gets stolen, and that lots of bikes don't display to keep their discs safe. The copper might let you off after checking the computer.0
