Hi,

I have a compaq laptop and the following message shows up when I start up the laptop:-

Media Test failure - Check Cable

The computer just automatically restarts and it shows up message again and again.

I have swich it off, on, off, and eventually it goes through to windows.

Any suggestion?

sounds like the hard disk is either failing or slight unplugged/unseated

what exact model is it ??

this could be caused by a flakey harddrive (as in your harddrive is dying)!!! or theres something wrong in BIOS (have you changed anything recently).

I would start by going into BIOS and resetting it to default settings and see where it goes from there.
