low cost hotel - disaster

After reading recommendations for cheap hotels in london i booked a night in the Premier West Hotel hammersmith. What a nightmare. The outside was scruffy but i thought 'its cheap so we will see'.. The room was filthy. Bedding full of holes. windows and curtains filthy. After the initial shock i went to put the kettle on and i have never seen furry limescale like it in my life.. As i was itching so much i decided to jump in the shower until i saw the towels. They were so dirty with black mascara marks and other unidentifiable stains. i went to reception to complain and he gave me one towel as replacement for the 4 dirty ones. which infact was not a towel but a floor towel..! My little boy and i had nowhere else to stay and no money to go to another hotel so we lay in our clothes on top of the bed and got up at 7am for the 'continental breakfast' but mainly for a cuppa.. on seein the chipped cups and dirty cutlery we left to walk the streets of London very early in the morning. i would advise anyone to really investigate the hotel before booking. £59 was wasted as we got no rest, unable to use facilities like kettle and shower that we paid for. not forgetting the extra money (we could not afford) to get breakfast elsewhere.. im still itching now..

You need to use a booking site with feedback on it. That way you can weed out the manky options.
I've stayed in 3 hotels in London over the last few years and all were clean and cost me about £60.Happy chappy0 -

I am a devoted 'review-reader before buying' on almost anything.
When I got to Bali a couple of weeks ago and checked availability in the hotel booth and found two candidates, I called my father in England to check which was better.
A good set of reviews will double your bookings in some cases I reckon.
Once when a hotel screwed me, I left three negative reviews on tripadvisor for their hotel. Bad move on their part.0 -
Posting on TripAdvisor is a must for a hotel like this, even following the bad reviews.
Did you book direct or through an agent? Hopefully not the latter, although possible! If it was through an agent, let them know.0 -
i booked the holiday thro 'rates to go' although i think the 'e' was put on the end of rates by mistake...!!! :rolleyes:0

Poor you, that is awful. I would write to Primer Inn's Head office- if you can find the Managing Directors name and send it to him all the better. I would point out the recent awful reviews on trip advisor (that you did not see before going) and that you ecountered the same problems and ask for a refund. If you took any photos of the shocking state of the room, enclose these as evidence and I persume you complained to staff of the problems, so you can further back up your claim with this.0

The best advice seems to be to ring their Customer services for a refund as they have a good night guarantee. This copied and pasted from Trickster1978 post of 26/8.
"It is best to phone 01582 499499 and speak to Premier Inn customer services. All premier inns have a good night guarantee and you are entitled to a full refund if not happy. When a log is placed with this helpdesk it is then transfered to the hotel who will refund and reply within 48 hours".
If you have no joy with this, then I would write a letter to Patrick Dempsey.0 -

The Premier West Hotel is not a Premier Inn.0 -
I dont think the Premier West is part of the Premier Inn group...its an independent hotel/guest house0

Looking at this site
http://www.londonnethotels.co.uk/Premier_West.htm
It states that the hotel is an independant.
I am sure there will be health and safety laws broken here so call environmental health!0
