System Restore, Urgent Help Needed

I need advice again. Whenever I have had a problem in the past I have managed to sort it out with System Restore and/or advice from here but today whichever date I choose to go back to I am told that it could not restore to that point. This has never happened before. What is causing it, do you know?

why do you need to do a system restore? do you have a virus/malware/spyware problem?
some of the above cant be solved with a system restore as although it take you back to apoint where your system was stable, it doesnt remove or alter any of your saved work/documents ect, and some of the above circumvent the restore facility."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Hello Shadowdragon, What has happened is that I did a cleanup a few weeks ago and since then I am not remembered on any of my regular sites and then today my computer started to go very slow again - takes ages to get started whereas it was quick a few days ago. I assumed it was something I had done so I decided to try SR. On an earlier thread I have been told that one problem will be CCleaner which I downloaded for the cleanup as it had been recommended. This other forum user said that it is CCleaner that has caused the change with the cookies. Any ideas?0

If you open Ccleaner, and uncheck the box next to cookies under Internet Explorer, then Ccleaner will not touch your cookies. On an earlier thread I have been told that one problem will be CCleaner which I downloaded for the cleanup as it had been recommended. As for your System Restore problem it is a somewhat unreliable program, a bit hit and miss. I do not use it, so cannot suggest anything.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

All ccleaners done is delete the cookies (meaning youll have to manually input usernames and passwords again). Ccleaners completely safe for the intital 'cleanup' it does.
It wont have made your computer go any slower so id be looking elsewhere if I were you (Unless you did a 'registry' clean as well which means you possibly deleted something you shouldnt have). Virus maybe?:idea:0 -
As aliEnRIK said, CCleaner shouldnt make your machine worst (it should make it better) I would run adaware, spybot, virus scan and malwarebytes just to make sure your not infected with any nasties."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. This has happened to me before. I did the system restore in safe mode. Hope this helps.0

Replying to last 3-2 responses - I'll try the system restore in Safe Mode and see what happens. I'm getting used to typing my logins now as it is over a week since it stopped remembering.
I did manually put in the sites where I want to be remembered (trusted sites).
When I did the cleanup I also used malwarebytes. I think I've got got Spybot and Adaware so I'll go see and maybe get somewhere this time.
Thanks to all. Great to have you there!0
