Car Servicing Costs Slashed

As we spend a fortune at Tesco we get a lot of club card vouchers - when I was looking through the book that they send along with them I noticed that car servicing at Nationwide Service Centres was included - an annual service costs £30 worth of vouchers (£149 full price - which is still half what the dealer quoted me) and I booked it in last week. The customer service was brilliant and I got my £300 service for £30 of vouchers ! I'll never take my car anywhere else !
They followed the Renault checklist and actually do more than the manufacturer recommends - and they're AA Approved.
Now where can I get the best deal on 2 new tyres? :j

  • Very interesting. I'm tempted for my new Primera next year but will the service genuinely be as good as a dealer would provide?
  • Have a look at the website and give them a go - they are AA Approved

  • Sorry,

Where did you get these prices from. There is nothing on their website except for £10 discount.

This is the only thing i could find.

I have a Nissan and the manufacturers service is generally nothing more than a glorified oil change for which you will be charged an arm and a leg. under the EU Regs you can get your car serviced anywhere as long as the work is to the service schedule/list and uses approved parts.

    Thanks.

The Nissan is out anyway, I can't afford it due to a family bereavement :( (I thought I could get away with it but just don't have the cash at the moment, so I'm putting the new car back 12 months) but my current Hyundai is up for its next service in a few months and I'll get it done at Nationwide to see how it goes.
  • You need to look at the Clubcard brochure Tesco sends out - you can claim Clubcard points if you use Nationwide and pay £ but my top tip is to use Tesco's vouchers earned via your Clubcard - that way you get the servicing or MOT at a big discount.

Here is the link, for ease of reference £10 voucher for every £2.50 of Clubcard Points

I've got cheaper servicing than that. It's called DIY.

    Bravo Tom.
However, I suspect that the majority of drivers lack your mechanical prowess, or lack the time, or lack the confidence to do it themselves. Unfortunately, I fall into all of the above - so will be keeping garages in business for a few years to come.
