As a general rule, if any email asks you to circulate this around or, better still, "send this to everyone you know", it's worth Googling it first as these are often scams......
Checking the ICSTIS website, which is now called PhonepayPlus, and searching on Belize would lead you to this article where you'd have found that this was shut down in 2005

Of course, that didn't stop my village's local newsletter printing it last year and panicking people....

I've been comping for about 8 months and usually do all the comps I'm interested in on the site, but I have repeatedly seen links to something called 'Great Competitions' - is it worth me signing up with them or will I get bombarded with spam and 'offers' I don't want?

Are there other sites worth joining?

I usually enter several hundred comps a week.

I'm a member of great competitions and joining them didn't seem to affect the level of spam I receive. In fact Great Competitions provided my first ever win.

They administer the competitions for a number of nationwide magazines and aren't like some of the other "competition" sites around, who are generally just after your email address or phone number.

That said, I do know that missing a tick box once on a great competitions site did lead to a few phone calls from one magazine, although they do respect the tick boxes and it was my error.

Great competitions is a good site, Ive had a few wins and absolutely no spam from them at all. I saw in another thread somebody had said that Great Competitions was spammy which really confused me,

Make sure you have clicked the box in your profile to hide your details from the public. I missed it, but then luckily noticed and altered it. There are a lot of people on their who have left their emails showing.

Couldn't remember if I was registered on there or not as Robo didn't bring up an entry for it when I went to the page.... so I just did a Google search on my email address which came up blank

Thanks for the warning though, as I would hate to have my email addy scraped off a site them bombarded with junk!

Not sure if this is the right place to put this, i'm sure someone will point me in the right direction if i'm in the wrong place!

I passed a bus stop the other day and it was advertising a King of Shaves text competition. I couldn't get all the details and couldn't find it in a search on here. Could someone else check and see if i've missed it, if it's not on the board i'll go back and look at the bus stop and get the details.

Since filling in a form for a £500 prize draw I've been hounded by this company telling me I've won :rolleyes: a £500 shopping voucher.
I've repeatedly told them I'm not interested in a bed and have asked them to remove my details from their records.
Sometimes they just cut me off mid-sentence :mad: and sometimes they promise to delete me, only to call again a few hours later! :mad:

I'm sure this was promoted as a prize draw but is obviously a scam!

Who can I report them to?
