I receive a newsletter which always asks for a receipt. I refuse to acknowledge it as I feel it's a bit cheeky of them to ask. It's probably just me being difficult lol

    Hi there,

I have just started maternity leave & am looking to have a go at a few comps but the ones that require a postcard, where or what do you all use, I have some card which I could cut up, but would that be sufficient?

    Thanks
    Lyz

Yes Lyz, cut up card is quite acceptable. Some people pick up the free postcards you get at the Cinemas. I was lucky enough to find 2 large packs for sale at a boot sale once.

As long as the card is about the right size, I'd think anything is acceptable. I believe some people cut up things like cereal packets etc. and use that.

HTH and good luck with your entries

  • Hi,

I've come across this website through an email from Netfreestuff.co.uk. It's called 'Get Me a Ticket.co.uk. Has anyone used this and actually won anything??? There are some really good prizes and a large winners list but I just wondered if it is actually for real!!!

    Thanks:j

I just ordered 200 good quality ones off ebay for about a fiver - if you get them off ebay you have to make sure they are good quality and proper weight (the first ever comping lesson I learned)
  • Hi Jexysbird...if you have a read through of Velvetglove's excellent comping guide, it will give you a rough ides of sites to avoid...

9 Are there any sites, from experience, which are likely to generate lots of spam?
There are a few which have come to our collective attention as sites that, when used for comps, seem to generate lots of unwanted postal, email & phone call attention. These are listed below for your information, however, please do remember that this is only the collective opinion of other MSE Compers & does not necessarily reflect upon the sites themselves.

    4FreeUK
    ABCWins
    Clash Club/Clash media
    Consumer Lifestyles
    Consumer Opinions
Craftomatic Beds (Comps appear to be just a way to get a salesman into your home, especially if vulnerable/alone)
    Emailinform
    EZ Prize Giveaway
    Fair Exchange
    GetMeATicket
    Guide2Win
    Just-Rewards
MyChild (have pestered with phone calls quite badly on some comps, but Compers have reported wins in the I Won forum)
    MyConsumer
    MyOffers
    Opinioniser
    Plum Offers
    Simple2Win
    Tickbox
    Topfox
    Toyhound
    UK-PrizeDraw
    Vouch4me
    Weatherseal
    Win 4 Now
    Win24

The above is quoted from the brilliant guide!!:D

Good tip, I've yet to go to my local cinema to get some though - I generally only go to see the Harry Potter films LOL!

Well, you could be even more efficient; go to the Freebies forum and keep checking the clicky at the top, as well as signing up to www.seefilmfirst.com and you can go to free cinema screenings; I went to a free screening of Taken the other night and grabbed about 30 postcards for comping on my way out.

I have another screening to look forward to on Sunday morning thanks to this forum...and more free postcards I hope (not sure if this cinema has them).
