I haven't a winter coat in years but I think I should invest this year! OH will go mad if I don't, he went mad last year but we didn't have the money to get one.:DSmall business owner 🧵 Ex MSE comper 🏆 Student loan repayer 💴 Romanian dog rescuer 🐕 Hopefully a cost of living survivor 🤞🏻0 -
I got a winter coat last year - my first winter coat since I left home! Only thing is now OH doesn't understand I need another new one this year! Ha ha! Last year's is still fine (classic black wool with belt) but a bright colour would be good!

When my second born was two years old he picked up an ear infection so I took him to the docs. It was soon after Christmas so I dropped into the conversation that he was drinking loads of fizzy drinks. The doc pricked his ears up and gave me a glucose testing strip to dangle in his wee which I did a few days later. It was all very low key. Well the strip went purple so we went back to the docs and he diagnosed type 1 diabetes.
We decided that it wasn't his diabetes but the whole families so we made a few adjustments to our diets which made them much more healthy and treated the injections as part of life.
We don't see diabetes as an illness but as a condition and with a sensible and not very arduous routine it has caused us few problems apart from the occasional hypo.
The lad is now 24, living a normal 24 year old's life in a neighboring town. He has taught his housemates and work colleagues about the signs of hypoglycaemia just in case but he is well controlled and sensible and his condition barely impinges of his life.
What I am trying to say is that conditions such as diabetes, while serious, need not rule your life.:beer:Any war that lasts for longer than five years should be declared a draw.:beer:0 -
What a fantastic way of dealing with it Snidely - I like that, not his condition but the whole family's condition. If I or someone I love gets anything like this I will remember that, thank you.Life is all about the journey.0
