George Best Airport - Make-up hand luggage question

Options
Hello!

I flew over to London in January 2008, and seem to remember having to abandon my hairspray can going through to the deprture lounge due to their rules on what you can carry on board.

I'm flying over again in a couple of weeks time & was wondering if anyone has flown out of George Best City Airport recently.

I want to take some things by hand luggage (I'm not checking any luggage in) so does anyone know the rules on taking

- hairspray / deodrant cans
- makeup such as mascara & foundation tubes (counted as liquid I think!)

I don't want to have to abandon my expensive Benefit make-up, so I won't take it if I can't get it through.
Many thanks!

all liquids (inc aerosols and toothpaste etc) have to be in bottles/containers of 100mls or less, and all your bottles must fit into a freezer-bag-type clear bag 1 litre in capacity and it's supposed to be able to close. which basically limits you to about 6 items in my experience!

You can buy the bags (4 for £1) in Belfast City Airport but each passenger can only have one in their hand luggage. Also, the bag must be scanned seperately from your luggage.

  • My mum had stuff taken off her, at the start of security, and was allowed to go back and buy an envelope to post it to herself.

I brought stick deoderant and make up last time I fley, think the rule is all individually under 100mls and collectivly under 1L and must fit into a sealed freezer bag.

    Not sure about sprays.

Don't buy water/suncream etc before security as they will be taken off you.
