cash payment will it affect jobseeker Allowance

Hi all

Hope you can help with a quick question, I currently claim Jobseekers allowance while looking for employment, a family friend has put my name forward to attend a market research meeting which for 1 hour I'm told they will pay me £20 in cash for my views

I'm guessing I will have to declare this income, how will this affect my fortnightly payments

Also I'm told this may be a weekly occurance, if it becomes over a certain limit per week, will I no longer be entitled to Jobseekers allowance

Tells you on this link; looks as though there is a £5, £10 or £20 per week disregard depending upon your circumstances.

From what you have said it looks like your disregard is £5. In other words you keep £5 and the rest is deducted £ for £ from your JSA.

Many thanks for your advice, it was what I suspected, I agree it's better to be safe than sorry so I'll declare it
