Problems switching to E.ON EnergyOnline Extra Saver 8

Currently with British Gas Standard Tarriff for both Gas and Elec at present (it was the default when we moved in a year ago), but not they've decided to put our gas up to £85 p/m (considering this is a 3-bed semi with two adults who our out at work all day!) I feel the time has come to switch from BG.
Looking at the comparison sites, E.ON EnergyOnline Extra Saver 8 seems the best deal there for us, including discounts for online management and direct debit, but when I try to complete their online signup form, It keeps rejecting the numbers for our gas and electricity metres.
Interestingly, when I first went to the page it auto-completed the numbers, but they did not match those on my bill from British Gas, so I changed them but now it wont let me past that page, saying they are invalid!

Has anyone encountered this or have any idea what is happening?

Thanks
Nice to save.

  • You'd be best calling eon. It may be that BG aren't billing you on the right meters? Eon or BG should be able to shed some light on it if you ring them, although it may take a while to get to the bottom of things.

I looked on the meters and the numbers on the British Gas bills do match.
Saying that, our bills are stragely high for our usage (or so it seems).
    Nice to save.
  • That's the meter serial number. You also have a supply number which will be on your BG bill but could be wrong. The only real way you'll get to the bottom of any possible problems is to call one of the suppliers, BG and whoever you want to go to.

Be careful before switching to V8 because when Eon recently increased their prices, they did not increase V8. It might be a few months before they do, but just thought you should be warned.
