For food, I would have said that a couple of big slow cookers with curried pumpkin soup would be fab for the adults with bits of french bread, plus you don't waste the pumpkin.
For the children, sausages, sausage rolls, fruit bowl, sandwiches, greeen Jelly. Blood fairy cakes, with red food colouring (E''s I know). Anything snot green such as butter icing.0 -
I had a halloween party a few years ago and did the following games which went down a treat:
Get children into pairs of similar height, Give 1 child a really cheap white toilet roll and get the child to wrap the other child up like a mummy. Then repeat letting the other child have a go.
I made a mound of flour using a small bowl and placed a sweet on the top with a knife each child has to take it in turns to slice the flour mould the one who made the sweet fall had to pick up the sweet with its mouth, (this might be for older children)
I also filled some plates up with squirty cream with a sweetie eyeball under the cream and the children had to find the eyeball using its mouth only, this was very funny because they got covered in cream. I also did this will chopped up jelly in a bowl and they had to get out bats and things with there mouth, again this might be only suitable for the older children.
I also made some coffins out of old shoeboxes and put a hole in the top so that a hand could go in, inside i put pasta shapes in one jelly in another and beans in another, it made the kids freak out when they put there hands in, (they had to find something that i had put in the box eg a bat, spider etc)
I also printed out some skeletons and cut them into body parts etc head, torso, arms legs and gave the kids a straw, they had to take the "parts" from one end of my conservatory to the other" this was fun as they had to suck the straw to keep the "parts" on. (i bought straws that had skeletons on them and they got to keep them in their party bags)
I also never gave the "winner" of these games a prize so that there was no arguing what i did was bought some halloween party bags and put there name on them (I actually got them to go outside and find them in my garden with a torch) but you dont have to do this, bought a halloween table cloth, made some rings out of cardboard and scattered sweets, bats and lots of other things on the floor on the table cloth, the kids then got the chance to throw 3 rings onto the cloth and whatever was in the rings they got to keep, this way they all got lots of sweets aswell. ( I bought lots and lots of sweets so that the kids got to do this again and again)
Sorry its a long post but as you probably can see we had a lovely time, the kids all dressed up, and they also had lots of nice halloween sweets to take home with them.0
