How do I install a printer I was given?

  • hi,

I attempted to install it tonight now I am settled into my new house but was completely thwarted because the leads are different!! The one which connects to the printer is a box one with pins in (scart??) and my laptop only has a much smaller socket or USB holes ... any suggestions on how to convert??

    Thanks

It sounds like the printer has a DB25 connection.

You'll probably need something like this.

    Pictures would be useful, though.
  • Excellent - that looks like exactly what I need ...

I will have another look tho and check how many pins the printer cable has ...

It sounds like the printer has a DB25 serial connection.

Take it you mean parallel not serial.

These are sometimes called Centronics connectors.
