Best savings account?

I have a lump sum of roughly £8,000 initial investment, followed by monthly payments of £200 per month that I would like to save over a period of between 3 and 5 years. Any suggestions for a secure and protected savings account with good rates of interest? I am more comfortable with UK companies.

If you haven't already got an ISA, that would be a good place to start, as any interest you earn would be sheltered from tax. You can put up to £3600/year into a cash ISA, and further money into stocks & shares ISA (up to £7200 total). List of best buy savings accounts can be found here: http://www.moneynet.co.uk/best-buys/savings-deposits.shtml I have always found Nationwide good for long term consistent rates, although if you don't mind shifting your money around regularly, then there are plenty of good rates on offer.“Money is not the most important thing in the world. Love is. Fortunately, I love money.”0
