Live food in Fishkeeping

Hi,

I was on the practical fishkeeping forum (https://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk) when I came across this thread:

I am a total novice when it comes to fish keeping (I only have some goldfish) but I was shocked to say the least and my belief in humanity is pushed to its very limits when I see stuff like this, But then again I know my goldfish would probably eat live food given the chance, (i did put a fly in once and it was gone in two seconds!)

I mean I am a veggie cause I don't like the way in which animals are farmed for their meat but I will still eat eggs (free range of course!) even though I know what happens to male chicks (they get killed and used for snake food etc). I personally don't have a problem with this, these other animals gotta eat too I guess. But I was just wondering do these types of fish I have seen need to be fed live food? If it is a necessity then fair enough but what kind of sicko then FILMS it and posts it on Youtube like its meant to be funny or something?

Its disgusting gloryfying in something like that and I have flagged each and every video on this thread but there is just so much of it! :mad:(Warning: most of it is pretty disturbing):mad: So I was just wondering if everyone would be willing to do the same and then maybe we can get that kind of garbage off there.

PS: Just got a reply on the forum about whether or not its a necessity to feed the fish concerned like this and apparently its not, they can be weaned off food like that.

It is not nice to look at but you may be more sensitive being a vegetarian. With reptiles the prey has to be dead/stunned before being given well legally at least but I saw a video on you tube where a large snake escaped and ate a small dog. It was something little like a Pommeranian and it belonged to an old lady who could not rescue it. The owner of the snake bought the old lady a new dog.
