house insurance claim - How long does it usually take???

I have just come across this thread and I sincerely hope that by now everyone has had their claim settled, you seem to have had a bit of a nightmare.
However, in case anyone else stumbles upon the thread I thought it may be useful to sort out a bit of confusion between Loss Adjusters & Loss Assessors.
A Loss Adjuster is appointed by the insurance company to assess the amount payable for a claim
A Loss Assessor is an independent professional appointed by you to negotiate claims payment
Also someone mentioned using an inventory - this of course would help to speed up any claim you can put this on a spreadsheet but do remember to keep a copy away from your home in case of a worst case scenario total loss claim. Even better use an online service such as underyourroof.com0
