What you said, was not addressing the "site feedback and suggestion" that I was making regarding having PM as a means of subscription notification. You don't see the point because you have no need for it, probably because you are not subsribed "by email notice" to any threads.I am subscribed to the threads by e-mail notice to the ones I want to be subscribed to until they are of no further use to me, then I delete them or put them into folders for future reference.
Ok then, you just don't see that not everyone is like yourself.
But many people are subscribed to certain threads, for which they would find notification really important. This can be done by keeping your e-mail client open, it is not a big deal to open it.
Some people are not like yourself, they may not have an email client on their computer or may have one but not use it for email. If they do have one which they also use for email they may not like to leave it open, for whatever reason. In addition PM for some people would be the quickest method because PM is instant and email is not always so, hence, why I suggested that a PM could be the quickest and most convenient method of notification and should be added.
At present the only method offered is email notice. For some people (like you) that would suffice, for others the quickest and most convienient method of notice would be PM. Hence I suggested it for the admins to take note and hopefully make an adjustment.
Every thread I ever replied to is automatically added to a subscription folder. I do not voluntarily subscribe to them, You must have voluntarily subscribed to them by ticking the box you can see in my post #4,"instant email notification"
No, as I said, I have not touched any of those settings, for me the MSE forum automatically subscribes without email notice to all threads I respond to, I neither voluntarily subscribed, nor do I unsubscribe, because up until now I could not be bothered to do so, I hardly ever use the userCP function to see old threads, so it was never an issue for me. Mine is set to 'no email' and I beleive it has been the default ever since I arrived, It is possible that I did do something which changed it but I was either unaware of it or I forgot that I did it 3 years ago.
just as I also do not voluntarily unsubscribe from them. Up until a couple of days ago I had no interest in thread subscriptions, so they built up steadily over time.
You can also do that by clicking on User CP, then "list subscrptions" in the left hand menu
Indeed.
I suspect that for you aswell the number of subscribed threads is also massive. No it isn't,(explained above), I have at the moment 75 subscribed, and some will be deleted/put into folders shortly), Unless you have always made a determined effort to unsubscribe from threads in your userCP menu. I do. There we go then, Or perhaps you have ticked some box somewhere that says "don't automatically subscribe to threads you reply to". No I have ticked the box in "edit options" to "receive instant email notification", but I don't keep them there forever, As I said earlier I am sure they used to limit subscribed threads to about 50!
Either way, I'm sure you now understand why I am subscribed to 1150 threads. Then delete/move some to folders, surely some of those must be ages old and you will have no use for them! if someone replies to one of them, it will come to the top of the page and as you are scrolling you will see it.
I don't use userCP very much, it doesn't matter that the forum automatically subscribes me to threads, nevertheless it is of occasional interest, to see what old threads have been bumped up, so I'll leave it as is. and you also understand that you misunderstood my OP - which is fine, thank you for offering to help.
I can be of no further assistance and it will have to be left to the admins to respond, although I wouldn't expect a positive outcome.
If they have courtesy to respond, I would see it as a perfectly reasonable request and it would seem to be very do-able, as such I see no reason why they would not respond positively, assuming they can be bothered to read the suggestions and leave a reply.0 -

Several weeks ago that stopped for no apparent reason, and although I keep clicking to receive the daily email, it just does not arrive anymore...
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys...:)
If individual thread notifications stop arriving, sometimes that's because an old thread's been closed and a new one opened.Signature removed for peace of mind0
