Do these two colours go together? My stair carpet is blue and i want to paint one side of the stair wall Bohemian Red. Will the red look ok with the Blue carpet? :beer:

It can work if you keep the colours on the same level. That is, keep the blue on the floor and the red on the walls, with a few touches of other colours. Its not something I'd go for, but it can work.0

an orangey red would go better with blue rather than a "red" red.
if you check out a colour wheel, (usually found in dulux brochures, etc) it advises not to use opposite colours on the wheel but the colours adjacent to opposite for a good bold contrast.0 -
I have red walls and blue sofa in my living room and it looks fab! I accent it with mustard yellow.
I know it SOUNDS awful but honestly, it looks great!
You need to repeat the colours in accessories so it is obvious it's intentional, not just cos you can't afford new carpet!!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Take care!
My brother has a blue sitting room carpet. They painted 2 walls orange, and 2 walls a reddy orange colour, and bought blood red sofas. It looks bloomin' awful! The room just has a small window, which was covered by a thick net curtain, so it just looks really small and gloomy.
The house has been up for sale for nearly a year now, and I'm sure it's down to the decor.
I should add that I prefer light colours though!Here I go again on my own....0 -

A blue stair carpet? If you want the stairs/hall area to be bright (rather than dark and gloomy) you could try cream or a yellow shade on the walls. It's a personal choice but I have this colour combination and think it looks bright, warm and welcoming.
If you're still not sure:
If you have an offcut piece of your blue carpet, take it with you when you go to buy the paint to be sure you like the colour combination.
Or alternatively buy some matchpots of paint in a variety of colours/shades. Paint a piece of card with the matchpot(s) and hold the card(s) against your blue carpet.
I hope that helps you to decide.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -

My sitting room sounds like skintchick's. Deep red walls, blue carpets and sofas. The curtains are striped, mostly the same red as the walls but with narrow gold and grey-blue stripes. Looks bohemian in a Victorian way - is a large room though, with huge bay window and high ceiling.0
