Is this average?
Hello
I must admit I don't have a clue about reading meters
I want to start keeping tabs on my KW's and as I had recently changed supplier, I thought it best to get first reading from them. Anyway, the meter man came out yesterday and I have looked online today at my usage. Am I using a similar amount to others??
On 10/06/08 my electricty reading was 6058
On 04/09/08 my electricty reading was 8026
I am using a prepayment meter and I have changed to Eon, I am in an averag 3 bed house. (End terrace I think!)
Thank you for reading.

Have you not noticed you are putting a lot of money in the meter.0 -

Thanks for your replies.
YES! I have noticed I'm putting alot of money in and was wondering if I was using the same as others!:happyhear We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other.

What appliances have you got , especially those producing heat for example water heater, tmble drier, washing machine, fires, fan heaters.0 -
I use 5089/kwh every year - your reading is over 3 months.
So, let's work that out:
5089 / 12 = 424.0833 x 3 = 1272.25.
So, for the sake of arguement, let's say I use 1273 kwh every 3 months. That's with two computers running almost all the time, in a two bedroomed house with two people living in it, and we use gas central heating.
Your usage is 1968 kwh. That's almost 54.6% more electricity than what I use over a average of 3 months. :eek:Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
 Wah!
I only use washer dryer, fridge and the usual kitchen electricals. There are two tv's, 1 main computer then the laptops. I have gas central heating and gas cooker. OK, the kids will have their laptop on and a console but I don't have anything out of the ordinary
Friends just say oh it's crazy how much it has gone up for them so I assumed it was the same for everyone!?
Thanks for your replies, think I might speak to Eon as to why my usage is so high.:happyhear We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other.

you could buy an energy monitor to see what you are using. £40 at Maplins
I only use 5-6 units a day
You seem to be using alot
But if you are using an immersion heater in the summer instead of a gas boiler/back boiler in the winter and was the readings on the last bill an estimate??0 -
Thanks for your advice. I have a combi boiler so no electric used there. Since the meter man has been out it has gone right down, only put £27 in since last Friday!
They must have changed something! I will be keeping an eye on it now so I will keep Maplin in mind.

I bought one off eBay (am I allowed to link to one?), and I prefer it better than the Maplins one. Forget how much it cost me, but it's been plugged in no problems for about 6 months now.
Edit: This is the one I have: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110287558957Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0
