Starting a business

Is there such a thing as a website/company/book that gives you all the basics of starting a retail business warts and all.

Or if you start a business is it something that you just learn as you go, making your own mistakes.

I would love to open a small shop but I have always regarded it as a dream as I haven't got a clue where to start.

my local business link gives you a free book :)Theres a lot you need to know regarding legal stuff, tax, accounting/book keeping, budgeting, marketing etc. Most areas have free courses for people interested in setting up a business.
Firstly if you have an idea of what you want to sell that is a start, then if it is something that can also be sold online that widens your market. Try posting on the small biz board you will get a lot of advice there.
