For a good central hotel the only site is www.londontown.com click on hotels. Touch lucky and you can get a 5* double room for £98 (£49 each).
Enjoy
if you do book a hotel through the londontown site - you'll get a personalised events guide - showing what's on near your hotel for the dates during, immediately before and after your stay.0 -
Make some time to wander round the city - loads of history right there and it's great fun exploring all the odd little side streets and alleys. Also enjoyable watching all the 'suits' racing from A-B. All totally free of course! If you're in town on a Sunday try out Columbia Road flower market off the Hackney Road.0

Not Sure if you have been yet but if not visit http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/everyones-london/index_flash.asp as they have 2-1 on most of the top London attractions such as London Eye, Aquarium etc. You just need to click on the headers. It also lists discounts for Museums, Galleries, restaurants, galleries, exhibitions and shows.0

The National Gallery at Trafalgar Square houses some of the most famous pieces of artwork. Admission is free but it'd be great if you'd drop a little something in the donation box. https://www.nationalgallery.org.uk The highlight exhibit seems to be Rubens paintings.
MAJOR LONDON TIP: Watch out for pickpockets and con-artists.I know nothing0 -

Not sure how clearly the first part of this post has been said before - but I'm sure the second part hasn't been mentioned!
part the first
Buy Travelcards for unlimited travel round London on Tubes, buses and British Rail within your specified area. These work after 9.30am and save lotsa money.
part the second
If travelling at weekends, buy a weekend travelcard which covers you for Sat and Sun (you can use these any time, even before 9.30) - this is cheaper than buying 2 separate travelcards.
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
You can't get weekend travelcards any more.jobbingmusician wrote:If travelling at weekends, buy a weekend travelcard which covers you for Sat and Sun (you can use these any time, even before 9.30) - this is cheaper than buying 2 separate travelcards.

big bus can be beat forget the £18 online just ask for the local fare from £1 they claim the fuel duty rebate as a normal bus , so pay the normal bus fare. Thats why they have to advertise 'local fares available' on all their buses.MylesBetter wrote:Hi Trafalgar

Recommend THE BIG BUS COMPANY to see the sites for £20 (£18 if bought online) cannot be beat.
Instead of getting hotel breakfast go to Fortnums & Masons fountain restaurant for the same price as a hotel breakfast you get a far better deal and fayre.
If travelling from the NW book VIRGIN train tickets now as you can get 1st class returns for £54 (you buy 2 VIRGIN Value 1st Tickets for £27 each). if you travel Monday to Friday the value is outstanding. But you must book 14 dys in advance.
Recommend Ronnie Scotts for a night out as over Xmas George Melly is in residence for 2 weeks excellent!!
If you get a Mayfair Hotel recommend the area in Mayfair known as Shepherds Market which is an excellent area for bars and bistros away from the madding crowds of London but right on Piccadilly.
