    Hi Parisjordana,

I am bumping your thread until someone in the know comes along. Calling DMG24, Healy etc where are you? I am sorry I cannot give advice but you are in the right place for help. Also have you thought about posting on the families board, as a lot of mums with children who have autism/aspergers are on that board.

PS Sorry Pete, you must type faster than me. When I posted no one had replied. Oops

I'm in a hotel room in Beverly Hills! ;)

Just to second what others have said, and the full support of the psychologist will go a long way towards getting the award reinstated.

Hope it all gets sorted quickly for you, and welcome to MSE x
    Gone ... or have I?
  • ADHD is more often then not a co-morbid. You said your son is hyperactive... So it is possible he has ADHD and HFA.

Has he ever/is he on meds for ADHD?

Hope you get it sorted soon tho.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!
  • ok, adhd is on the autistic spectrum, but it is a school age disorder.... i mean that to get the diagniosis school and home have to both agree he is adhd

now at a certain point it stops, has a benefits adviser come out to do an assesment... they do this at 16
if not, it needs to be looked into, one of my sons has the same diagnosis and yet gets low rate mobility and middle care, he is at college, i will hapily answer what questions i can via pm, dont worry, i know it seems the end of the world but it will all get sorted.

NOT everybody grows out of ADHD, a lot do but NOT everybody.

Hi there,he is on ritalin and has been since he was 7.....off the medication hes all what i said in original post plus hyperactive, off the meds his obbsesive traits climb sky high.....he doesnt socialise and puts his mp3 player in even if its off so when hes walking somewhere it will stop anyone speaking to him....I think he actually belives hes like these super heros hes obbsessed with....his world and life and every conversation he holds is films......
I feel so sorry for him hes not like other 18yr olds at all.....as a baby he never slept and would bang his head on the wall and go round and round in circles,he never spoke till he was 4 and had speach therapy at 5.....I just dont know whether to go straight to appeal or do as lady advised......

  • my best advice here is get the local mental health team to see him as urgent , get a psyc report done, cahms or mental health team will help, perhaps a sympathetic gp can phone up and get a fast appointment for you. otherwise, the maudsley hospital in london might help

Hi there,no one has ever been and assesed him from the dla...maybe its because hes nearly 18 and thats why hes been turned down..I just dont know but it feels like they are not aknowledging my sons problems, hes had a year of assesments with his doctor and us though and they are now coming to the end....hes not like other 18 yr olds at all more like a 9 yr old realy and even younger in other ways.....his doctor wants him off the medication as she says he doesnt have ADHD hes more on the autistic side as he cant do normal tasks that other 18 year olds do.....in an emergency situation he wouldnt understand and would just carry on watching his films while everyone else was panicking....I dont know Im no doctor and I dont know what he has but what I do know is I care for him and have to do a great deal for him compared to the care i give my other children who are younger and to be turned down was a real slap in the face....
