I usually work as supply teacher and was able to claim JSA in holidays as fulfilled all needed - new rules have changed this.
My last claims went on for 12 months (i put them on for every holiday when no work) whilst waiting for decissions re payment. I was advised that no payment was going to be made as i know that the schools close and im not going to get any money so i should budget for that - received £100 compensation for delay in decission and all the phone calls letters i had sent.
Work has gone very sparse and i only worked a few days each week when schools open ( over 16 hours a week) last term.
Ive had no income for over 7 weeks and despite ringing all agencies no work seems to be coming up.
I am single in own home i ve done the check on the site to see if i could claim anything but nothing came up as my circumstances are a bit unusual (cant get rates as not getting jsa seems to be the rule)
Is there any thing I can claim for I cant live of nil for any longer there must be some entitlement . Please help not sure were to start

Can you not just temp? Doesnt have to be teaching as long as it pays the bills. OR perhaps look at a full time position rather than supply.0

I ring every day and pester at 8 lunch time , then in the afternoon you have to be ready and available for work on stand by i am hoping work starts again very soon like in the next week or so. i never know where or what days i will be sent out so cant really comit to part time anywere else. its the pits really but when you get to be an oldy like me no chance of a permanent job in teaching they want the young ones . probably a few hundred after each job aswell.
i just wanted something to see me through any ideas0 -
You're a supply teacher and can't spell decision or commit?:o

Can you do any private tutoring? As long as your rates weren't too pricey, I'd imagine you could pick up some one-to-one tutoring on a fairly regular basis. Ask some of your local schools if you could advertise through them (on their notice boards, or in their newsletters perhaps?). Or put a card in a newsagents or in Tesco's advertising your services...
If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -
Are you registered with a variety of agencies for supply or only through the LEA?0

I am registered with four agencies - a few years ago there was plenty of work and you could pick and choose and work was in advance but seems to be cut backs and all other supply are saying the same.
I think thats a good idea to put a card in the window - going to post office to recycle mobile for cash so I can put a card in there to advertise tuition.
I didnt realise you could put ads in Ts for work related things so thats a good one too.
Thank you0 -
What about looking for work as a TA/LSA? Also ,depending on your teaching subject, have you sent your CV to your local colleges for sessional work?0
