Theres screws holding it in the sides and 2 connectors at the back which just pull out (Can be quite tight though):idea:0

Hi,
The hard drive should look very similar to the picture below, they are either held in by screws or on a slide which will require you to press in/pull out the tabs before you can slide the drive out.
Take care not to cut yourself, as some cases have sharp edges.
Best way to destroy data, if you decide to is hit the top with a big hammer... (wear eye protection just in case).0 -
thankyou both so much :A
have done it!!
I love this site:T ,,,,,, alway so helpful. can get rid of it now
now is there anyone who could do my ironing ? :rotfl::money: <<<< MY HERO!0 -
If the old hard drive is reasonably sized, you could keep it and put it something like this:

Use it as a USB external hard drive, for music / pictures / videos / backups.
There are cheaper enclosures, but most only fit one type of hard drive (IDE or SATA) whereas this one will accept both types. If you can figure out what kind you have, you could get an enclosure and power supply for about £10.
Sorry but as for ironing, no chance, it'll end up with more creases than when I started. (Two left hands)Russia is HERE0 -
thanks didnt know you could do that
dont know if its working tho as that pc wouldnt boot up anymore but I do have some stuff on there that I would like to retrive:money: <<<< MY HERO!0 -
If it wouldnt boot iit is still highly likely that it will still work if you put it in another computer as a secondary hard drive.
Its simple to do, in your new computer open the case like you did before, BUT take the cables out of the back of your DVD drive and plug them into the old hardrive.
Dont screw it in just let it hang out of the PC but lay it flat, start up your pc and it should be shown in 'my computer'.
This is asuming you have an IDE hard drive,if the connections are not the same on the hard drive as the dvd drive, you will need to plug it into a SATA port...a different type of connection (usully a thin orange/red/yellow) cable with the same color slot on the motherboard.0 -
And change the jumpers from Master to Slave...0
