Neither are many student loans or EMA - too many kids, too much paperwork I guess
No longer using this account for new posts from 2013
  • You are paid CTC automatically up until 31st August after the child's 16th birthday. If you have informed TCO that they are staying in full time education they will process this information from 1st September.

Like any other change it can take a good few days for the system to generate your new payment schedule.

It doesnt matter how long in advance you tell TCO, the system cannot process the change until the date of the change.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
did tell them in july, but still should have warned that money wouldn't be in, people who have direct debits and so. and we've no ema neither
  • For some people it wont make any difference to their payment schedule, it just so happens that your payment date fell during the processing period. The adviser would have been unable to tell you if your payment would be delayed.
  • hi kathrynt, i am in exactly the same position regarding non payment of tax credits and im really angry that tax credits never informed me there would be a delay. Most people on TC have to budget really carefully so this is a real mess up.Would like to know if there is any complaint channel regarding tax credits if any one knows?
  • Im the same, no tc no ema either my son starts college next week. I informed tc in july, hope they sort it out soon, bet we wont get double money knowing them they will add it to awards as a couple of quid a week:rolleyes:

    I haven't checked mine - didn't know this was a possibility either!

Have you got younger children as well, or just the one at college?

We would still get wtc anc ctc for the younger one so I'm wondering if they will just carry on the payments in that case (we have informed them dd is continuing in education)?

    Hmm, I'm off to check!

ETA: Hmm, yes, ours has gone down this week - presumably to what it would be without dd1 on there.

It's not a huge problem to us but, I agree, they should make us aware of this. I had absolutely no idea!

EMA wise, dd started on Monday but they don't enroll them until today so we are assuming her payments will start from next week, even though she has been on college all week? Anyone else have this happen?

Yep I went to do my shopping yesterday to find only half the amount there should be. When I rang up I got a really rude man who told me this is how it is.
That's OK for him to say but how am I supposed to do a food shop and pay out my £55 of bills with just £45?

same here, daughter started further education this week, my usual day for tax credits going in bank is today. went to bank and no money!! initially thought someone had been in my account but having checked with tax credits my payment day is going to be monday...not too bad as i dont have any direct debits going out but left me seriously skint for the weekend. have to go begging to my mum now for food money. could have been worse though i suppose.
  • I'm the same, tax credits went in Wednesday but only for my 14 year old. Will have to wait for new award to be processed.

We were told the ema is paid a week in arrears, they have to attend and do some work whilst there to get the ema paid out! My sons paperwork for ema has been processed and received by the college, so fingers crossed.
