Replacing a cordless phone

My father has a single cordless phone stationed in his lounge which he would like to replace with a 'big button' model, as his fingers are becoming arthritic and he has trouble keying. It is an old style BT Quartet 2010 and is 'fed' by a transmitter in his hall.
Is it possible just to buy a replacement off the shelf or does the whole shebang have to be scrapped?

As far as I know you would need to buy the base and the phone, I've never seen a phone on it's own for sale that could be charged by another base unit.0

I got myself a twin pack of mango phones from here in January 08 had no bother at all with them...
they are ex-display or someone has got them doesn't like them and sent them back so they cannot re-sell them as new...so that's why there say ex-display...
but in perfect working order...only cheaper...
