Unusual call from Radisson Malta...

I had a weird call from the Radisson Malta a while ago and they could have only got my details from a comp. Anyway they were offering special VIP stays to couples for a limited time - £99 for a week's stay. Anyone had anything like this?

I asked to email me details as I wanted to be sure it was from them but seems legit though you have so attend a sales thingy one morning or afternoon. Apart from that it does seem a good deal as long as you can get reasonable flights.

Anyone have any input on this. Apparently the deal is till Saturday.

Cheers!

So not a win, but I did get a bunch of Thomas Cook vouchers (no I won't be adding them to my total unless I actually use one :)

I had a call too & I'm not sure if it is something timeshare-y as when I told them I was under notice of redundancy (we were put 'at risk' a few weeks ago & find out in the next 2 weeks who has lost their job!) she ended the call very fast - which is why I was thinking timeshare?

Wonder if any others had the call as they may have got a bit more info from the caller?

Well I'm glad it wasn't just me anyway :) I did a search and managed to find vouchers for a weeks stay for a couple being sold with the condition you have to attend a sales presentation. Seems to be the same that we've been offered as they're up to Sep 2009 but the starting price is cheaper. And I saw job ads for sales consultants to work in the Radisson. So definitely some kind of sales pitch involved - would be great though to hear of anyone who took up the offer.

If I get called back tomorrow then I'll decline. It sounds good but without knowing flight costs and food costs I'd rather not agree to anything at such short notice.

BTW, hope things work out ok for you :)

I got a similar call and I thought it was something to do with timeshare as they asked whether we were employed.

The call was really long tho, at least 15-20 mins and my dinner was ready so I hung up. Not heard anything more.

Just to bump this - I've just had a call from the Radisson Malta too (two calls actually, within about an hour - overkeen?) Apparently I entered a comp, and didn't win the main prize but have won a weeks stay for the price of one night (£100)...sounds very timesharey but I'd like it to be otherwise!

    Anyone else had this recently?

  • Hi
sounds like Club la costa type thing - you enter, they ring very quickly to say you haven't won but are offered a reduced stay in return for attending a sales pitch. i had a call from them the first time I ever entered a comp to win a holiday (about 4 weeks ago) and was offered 3 nights in UK for £78 or 7 nights in Spain for £99. I actually took the 3 nights at a Scottish resort - AFTER going onto Tripadvisor and checking it out - normally £390 for 3 nights so they say, and a 4 star golf resort. Not bad to sit through an hour's pitch if you can stand it! Proceed with caution as flights etc won't be included.

I think with any of these things, once they get you to a timeshare where you are in a foreign country & don't have your own transport you are easy meat.

It would be worth a go if it were in England and you drove yourself there & could leave anytime you wanted if there was a catch.

Yeah, I've sat through a time share talk before - but had my own transport to get away again. Think I'll give it a miss...could be worth it but I'm really after the freebie not the cheapie. Thanks for your help you two :)

It is def a Timeshare/holiday points thingy....we stayed at the Radisson in 2008 , ...we were stopped one morning going into breakfast and asked if we'd like to see their other hotel and consider staying there next time as they had a great offer on....we did want to see this other hotel and they arranged a taxi for us, so stupid of us , we should have realised then....aaarrrghhh!!! Got the hard sell as soon as we arrived....demanded the taxi take us back straight away...complained to hotel reception ,they said it was nothing to do with them , but the hotel did have some apartments on the top floors and their reps did lurk around various areas with permission...I was not pleased and told as many new arrivals as possible to beware...
