Gas bill headache

as otb says, the 12 month rule only applies ifthere have been no bills at all - bills in the previous occupier's (developer?) name would mean that the whole period is payable.
There is something on energywatch's website (hurry, onlyh 3 weeks left), and probably something on the ombudsman's website too. Mention both of these when they speak to you tomorrow, ask for copies of the bills they have issued and why they never chased any of them.
Good luck0 -
Hi there thanks for the reply, I have had NO gas bills at all, not even in the previous occupiers name, the first mention of any bill for gas was this one I recieved yesterday, which does not relate to my meter refs or usage, with incorrect address. The only bills i have recieved have been electricty ones,I have had problems with these also, but I have NEVER recieved any gas bills. The previous owner built new homes around this old house and used my home as a site cabin, hence the massive electricity bills. There was no gas supply to the property, it ran on a coal fired AGA, so he put one in but it was never connected up, our corgi plumber connected it and i have been notifying eon ever since sept 2006, they have sent me eletric bills but NO GAS.
Does this help further with my query thanks!!0 -

National Grid control the supply of gas and they should have issued you with an MPAN. In fact if your plumber/builder tapped into the national gas grid  .
There may be someone along soon with more info than I can give but I would say that your property may not have been registered as a user of gas.0 -
They usually do this issue of mpan number to the person that pays for the supply to be put in, plumber says that everything is up and working and that before it is possible to tap into gas supply, mpan needs to be used in order for the gas to be supplied to enable it to actually be connected.0

Personally I would contact energy watch. Explain everything and let them act on your behalf.
I've used them a couple of times in the past and it certainly takes away the the stress and gets the issues resolved.
