Check box in word document

Hi,
Could someone please tell me how to insert checkboxes in a word document questionaire ?

View menu > Toolbars > Forms (Or right click any visible toolbar and turn on the Forms toolbar)

Then you'll have the tools you need, click the CheckBox icon on the Forms tool bar and one is inserted where the cursor is.

Thanks for the quick reply,however when I click in the textbox where I want the checkbox to be inserted it becomes inactive on the form bar.Further help will be appreciated please.

Unfortunately you can only add form controls (checkbox, list boxes etc) into the main document area, you can't add them to: text boxes, headers, footers, note or comments boxes. This is why the toolbar becomes inactive when you enter a text box.

So you'll need to redesign your form, not using any text boxes in areas you want to have the form controls.

Why not use a table to set up the document?

One more suggestion - when I was trying this, and only needed the box shape to appear, I used a square shaped character (obtainable via menu item Insert>Symbol). It's not a proper tickbox in that you cannot check if is ticked, but it looked good to me when printed.
