Hi ppl
My brother in law wants to create a website which I can do for him quite easily. On a couple of the pages he wants to upload some photographs (say 50+) and have thumbnails of them so you can click on and they open in a new window.
What's the easiest way of doing this without me cropping each image etc?
Is there any software that will do this for him quickly and easily.

you could cheat and use a photobucket account0

If you want to do it automated you'll need to crop/resize at some point in order to create the thumbnail. Means using a scripting language, which means you'll need appropriate hosting. I've done similiar with my photos in C#. The server picks up any newly found images and automatically creates thumbs for them. Makes things nice and easy for me.
Alternatively if you wanted to do it manually, you could look at IrfanView (free). I know it's got batch process capabilities but I don't know if it'd to thumbs in batch.
Or you could use the link SG suggested."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
And not forgetting to upload the files in .jpg format and a size of about 800x600 Maximum with about 72 pixels per inch as no-one likes to wait for a piccy to download.0

You could use flickr.com. They provide you with the code for thumbnails
You are allowed to hotlink as long as you provide to link back to them
You are allowed to upload 20 MB a month
They have another complicated rule - In the free account you only get to see the last 200 hundred photos you've uploaded. - thought they keep all your images and hotlinks always work.
It's actually quite clever - People feel confident to use their photos for sites knowing that the hotlink always works but if you loose/forget the url, or want to see your older photos, you have to pay to see photos 200+ in the list0
