Chauffer Driven Limo's in Central London

I am looking for the cheapest way to hire a chauffer driven limo to get me from my hotel to the theatre (large BMW, Merc etc).

I am concerned that booking via the hotel concierge might not be the cheapest way.

Anyone know any businesses I could investigate and how much should I pay.

The distance is about 1.5miles each way.

Do central London hotels have their own cars and how do I check this out on a hotel web site?

There's loads of Chauffeur Driven Vehicles in London - they're called black cabs! Is it really important to turn up in a Merc? Some black cabs cost more than Mercs!

OK try calling the hotels and asking for a quote. Or failing that try Guy Salmon Chauffeur Drive or Addison Lee.

Dont use the hotel, it will cost you more and the conceirge works on commison - about 25%

For a theatre drop and pick up you are looking about £100-£120 for an E Class Merc.

S Classes are a little more, or if you wanted you could have a limo, a smart 6 door black one.

What hotel are you staying at??

Also most chauffeur companies will only book the job as a wait and return - hence the £100.

Just re read your post, you want a large car so i would ask for a S class Merc or a BMW 7 series.
  • Looks like I will be staying in a Holiday Inn.

I know I can use a cab but I just fancy something Different as a treat!

Will look at the two recommendations.

For pick up/drop off the prices seem high especially as I can hire a Chauffer driven RR/Bentley in central London for £335 for 3 hours.

Yes, but most companies as i said will charge it as a wait and return - 4 hrs usually for theatre, as the driver cant just go and do another job.
  • Understand Angie_Baby which explains why I see a lot of these cars just sitting outside theatres restaurants etc. with all the Chauffers just standing around chatting.

Most of the time, yep. Or sitting in their car reading or dozing.

You might have a company that will do it as a drop / pick up but they cant always get the same driver to pick you up. Which makes the pick up harder as you dont know which car is yours, and you dont want to be on the phone asking where your car is. At least with a wait and return the driver will try his hardest to be right outside the theatre (if possible), he knows the face, Which is want you want really, just to come out of the theatre with the driver waiting ready to open the door.
Im lucky and work for a chauffeur firm in London, and managed to blag a car to pick my self and DS from HSM at the appollo. It was great, he was bang outside in front of all the black cabs. Ready to open the door for DS. Who then flipping complained cause it wasnt the Bentley - spoilt sod!!!
  • sorry maybe it is my womans logic here, but I rather spend the excess £100 or more, on an upgraded hotel and get a black cab rather than spend over £100 on a journey lasting a few minutes....rather have a night of better luxury than 10 mins.

I would too, plus you have the chance off getting a free car transfer if the hotel has its own drivers.
Lanesborough and Dorchester are very good but they are a hell of alot more than an extra £100.

But it does feel great to slip into a nice car after a night out, esp when you see everyone else heading for the tube.

Have been thinking, i would try to go for a company that uses owner drivers, and ask to pay cash, this should get you a car but a bit cheaper.
