DVD playback issue - audio is jerky

hello

following recommendations on this forum, I tried to play a DVD on my PC after downloading the K-Lite Codec and using MS MEdia Player 10.

It complained that I had to reduce the display and colour settings, but still no luck.

Instead I am using Media Player Classic. The video playback is excellent, but the audio is very jerky. I cannot think why - any suggestions?

Its a Dell PC 2.8Ghz with 1024 MB RAM, running XP Pro.

Thanks!

    Hi,
Sounds odd that you need to reduce the display/colour settings. The PC sounds more than good enough to play a DVD.

Two quick things which may help:
    1) Did you uninstall any other DVD software you had on the computer? There may be some kind of conflict between codecs.
    2) Have you got the latest video drivers for your computer?

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe in the settings you are trying to play AC3 of 5.1 digital audio. If there is a settings page (I haven't used k-lite), try changing the audio to basic stereo to see if that helps.

  • the video driver is "Intel 82865G" Graphics controller

and there are no other codecs installed other than K-Lite Codec Pack

    Just to clarify:

    1) Microsoft Windows Media Player refuses to play the discs
    2) Media Player Classic will play the DVD with good video, but very stuttering audio

    any other suggestions?
