STILL saved £100+ on electricity bill

I posted several months ago saying I had made a determined effort to reduce our Eon electricity bill which was regularly over £200 per quarter (small cottage, 2 adults). Did all the obvious things and managed to save £125 on the next bill. The main thing we did was replace an old (ie 10yrs+ fridge and freezer) with an A+ rated new combined fridge/freezer
However, the next quarter, I did ease up a bit and wasn't quite so fervent about all the things I had done (ie got fed up washing things by hand to cut down on washing machine usage!) but interestingly the bill is once again much lower than the £200 bills we were getting before - probably saved £100 this time as opposed to £125.

The interesting point is, that this seems to show that the main cause of our high electricity usage was the old and knackered white goods. I recently heard on the radio an 'expert' saying something similar and if you're sceptical (as I would be!) I can vouch that the new white goods DO seem to have made a real difference. We bought the new appliance for about £200 but have now 'saved' that in just two quarters and presumably will continue to do so, had we not replaced them. Just a thought......

Well done you! We have replaced our white goods as they have died with energy efficient ones. We have reduced our summer units from about 15 a day to about 11 but I know that with the shorter days and tumble drying (we're a large family) it won't last.
