Economy 7, when is it worth going for E7 tariff?
Hi,
We do have E7 in our house. But we do not have a tariff, which takes it into account.
How much Electricity do we have to use within the E7 times, so it would be worth swapping to a tariff which takes E7 into account?
Thanks a lot
Egon

Hi,
E7 is really for electric central heating, and water heating, use over night on the cheap
rate, in which case the ratio would be about 3 low units to 1 normal unit, based on
annual usage.
Best idea then is to have a monthly direct debit, so as you are paying the same amount
every month, and not getting big bills in winter when using the heating.0 -
The 'break even' point for E7, varies a great deal by company, area of UK and even different tariffs from the same company. Also the amount you consume.
The post above is wrong(I assume that frugalmacdugal has got it the wrong way round)
The break even point can vary from approx 10% to 30% of total consumption on E7.0 -
Often your existing supplier will be able to run a calculation on your past usage and tell you if E7 would have been better for you on that use.0
