Have you tried Freecycle or similar, to see if people are trying to get some off their hands? Might be worth a try - I know you can pick bubblewrap up from removal companies/office suppliers and the like - but no sense paying for it if there are others about who might be looking to get rid of a load.....Oh come on, don't be silly.
It's the internet - it's not real!0 -
thanks for reply, i thought it was different bubble wrap for use in greenhouses, unless im wrong.:o0

Horticultural bubble may have UVI to slow it from degrading in sunlight. I doubt if it would make a lot of difference. A local independant packaging distributor should offer you a good price if you collect and pay £££ notes0

Does it go inside or outside? If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

it goes on the inside im all new to this as its only been up a couple of weeks never had one as big before...oops i mean greenhouse :rotfl:0 -
I think UV stability is important. My insulation has been constantly in place for about 6 years now and it is not yet disintegrating, which has got to be money saving, assuming you are going down the route of paying for it. I got it from LBS (Garden Warehouse.) It is the large bubble variety, which is superior because it holds more air and it has a third layer to keep it 'thick' even where there are no bubbles. LBS do the fasteners for fixing it too, though mine's a cedar greenhouse so I just use push pins.
LBS sell by the metre, but there are carriage charges, unless you buy a lot of stuff or live in Lancashire.
I know Pickfords sell bubble wrap, as do other removal/storage warehouses.
Expect this to last a couple of seasons, at most, or a bit more if you remove it & replace (though that will cause wear & tear too.) I've had that stuff too, and, boy, does it disintegrate when it finally gives up the ghost! (Literally Hoover it off!)
Whatever way you choose to do this, it is worth it, especially if you are heating the greenhouse as well. Even if you aren't, don't forget that you can throw horticultural fleece over your greenhouse plants too on those nights which are coldest.0 -

Bubble insulation goes inside, but shade netting for summer can go outside, as it is sometimes easier to put it there, especially if you leave your insulation in place all year round. Either way, you still have to open the top vents somehow, though I remove an end panel in the summer and wedge the door open to get a through draught as well. Rabbit netting keeps the moggies out!0 -
These LBS people appear to be expensive :-
Insulation Bubble Film 1500mm (60") x 50m Roll £95.14
The first Packaging distributor that comes up in Google

Large bubble double laminated UVI 1500mm x 50m 1 roll £50.160 -
thanks for replies
Im going to use the proper stuff works out better in the long run dont fancy having to do it again in a couple years, just checked garden warehouse is out of stock they seem to be cheap 30m roll £9.95 think thats enough for my lill greenhouse. Going past depot tomorrow will call in and see what price is there.
Have seen some clips on ebay.....wasnt sure about the spacers been reading this afternoon some say yes to space between bubblewrap and glass others say no.0 -
Thanks stamford; those are good prices. I'm aware LBS isn't cheapest for everything, but I used them for business and it was handy to have most things in one place. However, they usually worked out a bit cheaper than my 'local' supplier, which is 25 miles away!
I don't know about the spacers Squiggle, but I don't think it is critical. At a guess, I'd say they'd help a little bit, creating a wider air pocket. You will need something to fix the stuff with though.0
