Do I claim?

Never had an accident before but 3 days ago I hit a curb at probably 20mph on a wet roundabout. The front left wheel was stuck up in the arch.
The numbers bit...
I paid £950 1 year ago for it, and am fully comp with £150 excess. 1 years no claims. Damage quote from my garage is £500 on second hand parts.
I'm told that if i made a claim they would right off the car (because they price repiars on new parts which would total more than the cars value), and pay me give me it's current market value.
What to do? I've told the garage to go ahead and order the parts to repair so you're input would be great asap
Thankyou
Chris

I'd say it depends on how much your insurance was in total. A claim could cost you a lot more than £350 in extra premiums (you'll have to pay £150 excess). If your one year no claims bonus made a big difference to your premium then personally I'd just pay for the repair.0

You will have to declare it to your insurer tough - "any losses, whether insured or not..."0

You will have to declare it to your insurer though as they ask you about any losses, whether insured or not and this is a loss which you've chosen not to claim for.0
