Thursday 4/09/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Hi to any new posters and a big shout to the usual gang.:j

Thanks Andan for doing the post yesterday:A , things are a bit hectic for me at the moment, dad and brother are both terminal with cancer and i am helping mum with the caring as well as full time work.Hopefully Andan or another of the regulars will post the thread if it doesn't appear some days, thanks guys:A .

Things for me today:
  • check online banking
  • clicks- soon as I have enough for another piggy voucher i am stopping those.
  • storecupboard meals- something for slowcooker tonight I think:rolleyes:
  • use up a huge marrow and some spuds from mums garden
  • hopefully get chance for a quick swim with gym membership- very good for stressbusting;)
This forum is giving me a bit of sanity and normality at the moment as everything seems a bit surreal at home at present. Thanks everyone, i love reading all your posts and feeling grounded again.:D
Catch up with you all later.

  • Hi all,

Sophiesmum - sending you loads of hugs and shall be thinking of you.

As for the DFW moneysaving tip-ets:

Today I have changed my quilt over and put the winter one back on.

Last night was cold and DH put the central heating on    , my god it's only September, DH reckoned we should all buy 5ltr 4x4's to help with the climate change !!!!!, somehow I think he's got the wrong end of the stick. :rotfl: For someone who is incredibly intelligent, he can also be incredibly stupid - lol.

Anyway we couldn't afford the road tax anyway :p
:D Opinions are like bottom holes, we all have one :D
  • Morning all!! Today I will/have
    • Done my piggy clicks - almost at my next voucher
    • look through the daily clicks e-mail from EagerLearner and see if there are any sites I haven't signed up to yet and see about the relevant daily clicks
    • check on-line banking and update spreadsheet
    • make another small overpayment off one of my CC bills (a different take on the payment a day)
    • no ebay listing today as I go on hols next week so won't be able to post them out in time
    • Nearly a NSD - only 40p on the local newspaper this morning
    • brought lunch in and tea will be from stuff already in the house
I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of for now. Have a great day everyone.

    Hello all

Remembered lunch but did not remember to get anything out of the freezer for tea (was supposed to be going out), todays challenge, which I choose to accept is to eat from fridge. I know that there are some mushrooms in there as well as bacon so may do some sort of pasta/rice dish.

    Have a good day everyone.
