British gas essentials tarriff?
Anyone know what the prices per unit are for this tariff?
A friend has said those on qualifying benefits are entitled to cheaper electric/gas and this is the only 'tariff' I can find which would suggest a discount for disabled.
Thanks

Go to www.britishgas.co.uk. Click on view our prices. Enter type of meter, tariff ,payment option and postcode. If you enter standard credit with Direct debit option it gives you the price. If you are on a click tariff do the same- then compare. The essential tariff is the same as the standard option but with direct debit.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Some BG call centre bods have been claiming the Essentials tariff is 'the cheapest tariff we do' which is total nonsense. If you satisfy the criteria for paying Click 5 then the Essentials tariff is to be avoided at all costs. I really hope BG staff don't get commission for getting people to switch to the Essentials tariff who would be far better off on Click 5. I mean, how dodgy would that be??Call me Carmine....

Trouble is,Click 5 hasn't been updated yet, think it last changed in the Spring, does anyone know what it was on its previous two price changes-I don't suppose its been going all that long anyway, but watch out 'cause you could get caught out, when BG announce price rises for Click5....I guess that would be in the next month or so ?............................................Answering my own question sortof, I've just had alook at UKpower.co.uk and it says this Tariff started IN May 08,and the last price change was at the end of May I see there's also mentions of Click 1 ,2,3 and 4 so guess these are earlier version of the same thing?0 -
Yes, Click 5 is still pre-increase but even if BG have the gall in the current market to increase it by the same %tage they did with their standard tariff it's still going to be lower, if you see what I mean. IME you have to actually ask to be put on Click 5, it's not a tariff BG seem too keen on all the people who could go on it actually doing so. IMO it's used in extreme cases, like when someone on the ridiculous standard tariff has 'seen the light' and decided to switch...Call me Carmine....
