Stock Control / Accounting Software for Sales

Was wondering if anyone had an idea for a simple and basic stock control / accounting software. I am currently running my records on Excel but the wheels are about to fall of the system.

I need something that will log ad hoc purchases allow me to add various ebay/paypal/postage fees etc. Account for extra revenue like P+P charges.

It would be nice if I could be able to search for stock currently its either manual in excel or physical check of stock.

Things are getting busy and I can see me forgetting to post things!!

It's not perfect, but I use a combination of eBays SM-Pro for inventory and 'Shooting Star' from Foo-Dog software for customer contact / invoices / reports.

SM Pro does have some useable customer contact tools but I've never used them because I set my systems up around Shooting Star before eBay offered SM Pro.

SM pro does cost monthly, but in my case it pays for itself with the free features it offers.

Is there any other software people can recommend? Surely you don't all make ad-hoc lists in Notepad like me (I really need to get on top of this!).
