All the Chicken Littles predicting the sky falling in make me chuckle, I agree there will be large % price drops in the price of property but its hardly the end of the world is it, the cycle of life go's on.
We all need somewhere to live and i for one prefer to pay my own mortgage and not live in scabby rented accomodation paying someone elses.
You're in a nice position though with a lot of equity in your property.
By the looks of things, equity could shorlty be wiped out for most people who bought since 2005 - which is why there is so much huffing and puffing about the crash.
Once the market works itself out and house prices once again bear some resemblance to fair value, buyers can get back to purchasing houses that will deliver on the promise of home ownership: A safe, secure place to live.
Unfortunately, prior to the crash it was many years since buying a house made sense for most people - it is not conducive to peace of mind and stability to have to take out an eye-wateringly huge loan to buy a place to live. As many people are finding out, paying a stupidly large sum for an overpriced house is just a route to misery and stress. And where's the security when even a small change in financial circumstances could see you repossessed and being chased for thousands of quid of additional debt?--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -

I quite agree with the OP. I'm bored with the doom & gloom.
If only one of the central banks would pull the plug & let the total meltdown begin.
The delay is pointless. There is no way out of this. Let's get on with it I say.
Then at least it might (?) stop all the daft questions about 'what my house is worth', 'should I buy now?'.

tells all, though who will take it onboard?...especially in Scotland0 -

If that article is correct then you would be asking instead 'how can I survive' as in Financial Armageddon all money except Gold would be worthless.0 -

I have little doubt that the article is stating the facts.
Just the titchy UK:- On the 20th October the BOE funding for lenders will stop.

As for asking 'how can i survive'..... I did ask some years ago. The result is a cheap small farm, quiet warm country, tucked out of the way, some yellow metal, some paper, almost self-sufficient. It might work, & it might not.
Having seen UK property bubbles before, it was soon obvious that this one was totally barmy...............but I got my timing all wrong......it just went on & on.......& I'm darned sure i'm not paying for the greed of others if I can help it.
Good Luck everyone, we are going to need it............but there is no substitute for experience. However, few seem willing to learn the lessons. The levels of denial are astonishing this time.0
