ie 8 - Not impressed - I now have problems!

Was reading a forum where someone was raving about ie 8. Just downloaded the beta v2 version and tried to play a game in yahoo. It repeatedly crashed. I kept getting and exception error.

I then decided to go back to ie 7 and because I had a more up to date version it wouldnt go any further.

I've just carried out a system restore to try and get things back to how they were yesterday and now when I click on the explorer icon it looks as though its going to open a web page and then it goes back to my desktop.

Help!

    try an even earlier system restore date if possible, and maybe do it in safe mode. failing that, ditch IE completely and say hello FireFox.:)

    How to uninstall Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2

    loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation');To uninstall Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 in Windows Vista, follow these steps:

    1.Click StartVistaStartButton.jpg, type Programs and Features in the Start Search box, and then click Programs and Features in the Programs list.

    SecurityShield.jpg If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

    2.In the Tasks pane, click View installed updates.

    3.Click Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2, and then click Uninstall. If Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 does not appear in the Currently Installed Updates list, run the following command at an elevated command prompt:

    FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages/M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-8*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"

    You should be able to uninstall IE8 to revert back. via add remove programs.
    Never a good idea for average users to play with beta software, at the very least you should have an image of your system to fall back on.

    Its all very wierd. I now longer have any version of Explorer in the add/remove programs bit? I'm going to try an earlier restore and see if that works. Thanks for your reply.

    Thanks for your reply. I have XP rather than VISTA. Do you know what I would do?

    That is rather odd, you have gone all the way down the list of programs as some people stop at "I" for Internet Explorer when it is "W" for Windows internet explorer.

    Only other thing I can suggest is that maybe it's a bad install and you could try running the install again.
