UK Call Centres

Hi. I am losing the will to live thanks to two phone companies! I was with Talk Talk for my home phone and Onetel for my broadband but decided to change to Tiscali (for both) after reading Martin's top tips about cheap phone providers. Talk Talk have been pestering me with calls for weeks now, offering me better and better deals - telling me how bad Tiscali are etc. I have tried to tell them clearly that I am changing supplier and that I don't want to stay with them no matter what they offer. They then asked me if I was aware that they would charge me to leave - I wasn't. So, they inform me that they will charge me £70. Today I call Tiscali to ask them to put my 'Go Live' date back so that I have some time to sort this charge out with Talk Talk. They transfer me to the cancellations dept as they say that I can't delay, I will have to cancel and re-do it. All of this is repeated loads of times because of the accent problem. The cancellation team then tell me that I don't exist on their system because I haven't gone live. Aaargh!
I would like a phone provider that has a call centre in the UK - I no longer care about the cost - does such a beast exist?
I am now going to lie down in a dark room! All suggestions gratefully received!

PlusNet's call centre is in Sheffield but its Home Phone product is only available if you only take broadband from them. You may of course still have problems but at least not with an overseas call centre. PlusNet is owned by BT and sells broadband and telephone wholesale products provided by BT but its prices and services are different to those of "BT proper" and it does not use overseas call centres.

I spoke too soon. Up until now the Madasafish support staff have only dealt with Madasafish (+ Waitrose, Greenbee etc.) customers. Plusnet has just announced that over time the workload for all Plusnet and Madasafish brand customers will be shared between Sheffield and Durban. The operations will still be separate from the main BT call centres.

    And 0871 CS numbers?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

They stopped using them some time ago. They now use 5p 0844 numbers Customer Service Numbers, which are inclusive to call for some customers, depending on their level of membership.
