Connect single monitor, mouse and keyboard ..

Hello,

How to connect one flat monitor to two computers please? What do I need for that?

The main requirement is - switching computers should be as easy as flicking a switch.

TIA,

Additionally some modern monitors with DVI input will also have a VGA input and an ability to switch from one source to another if you have something connected to both inputs.

A KVM switch would be good but check it supports your monitor (VGA or DVI), keyboard and mouse (USB or PS2 connectors). We have 4 port one of these at work and it has caused plenty of trouble since it requires the old VGA and PS2 connectors whereas almost all our keyboards and mice are USB versions.

Just a word of caution some usb keyboard with ps2 adaptor ie Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse dont always like them, I know I have tried it and MS state this too

Also some dont go to high resolutions so bare that in mind you may have to spend more. Some do support sound, DVI but these tend to buy the high up market ones.

I have had problems with getting properly refresh rate/screen ration on LCD even with proper video and monitor drivers and had to force the driver to use custom profile in nvidia driver
