That's a pretty good price, but you might be able to find it a bit cheaper if you wait for an offer from somewhere.
Also, make sure it comes with a power supply compatible with UK voltage.0 -
I got an inspiron 6000 with the same spec except 1.73GHz processor, 60gb hard drive and 15.4" screen for £700, so I don't think it's that good a deal.
Plus, it will be harder to get support with a US purchased PC in the UK if anything goes wrong.0 -
We've got almost identical spec except with a Nvidia Geforce 256 graphics card.. picked this up from Outlet for about £900 - also just tried a build on dell uk .. built this but with a 128 graphics card for 1057 (based on e-value code E-Value Code
UKDHSONL-N11936 ) .. why bother importing ?
ps good choice though it's a brilliant laptop - sorry desktop replacement!HLK

Try this website if you are shopping around for cheap quality laptops:

Be sure to check out the clearance section for the real bargains!Debt 2007 £17k
Current Debt approx £7.5k
Target - to pay off all debts by 2020 :A0 -
Another thing to bear in mind is that it won't have a £ sign engraved on any of the keytops, and the layout of the special characters (#, @, ~, etc) will be different between a UK keyboard and the US one.
What makes you think that you won't have to pay VAT plus import duty if your friend gets stopped by customs? Remember Colleen! This article is nearly a year old, but worth a read...
