Someone must know! Not remembered on sites

I have asked about this before but did not get any useful replies.
None of the sites I use regularly remember me and I have to login each time. I have searched for the answer as to why this is and thought I'd cracked it last night when I re-entered all the sites in the box on Trusted Sites in Internet Security of the Control Panel but no, it did not do it for me.

Someone out there must have the answer. This started after I had done a clean up using Malwarebytes. Anyone got a solution?

Check under Internet Explorer - Tools - Internet options - Privacy. What level is it set to? If it is set too high this may prevent cookies being saved.

Assuming the sites you are talking about are not secure sites, such as banking then it is most likely a cookie issue, as in your browser is deleting them.

  • My guess would be cookies as well, check that you are allowing them under privacy settings.

You havent got any 'privacy' software installed?
(The sort of thing which cleans up after you're browsing and deletes cookies etc)

I did know it was all about cookies but was not able to see any settings that looked wrong. I'll have another look. Thanks all.

theres also a setting which deletes all cookies after shutting down.
if thats enabled, you need to change that.

Not sure which one you are referring to. I was just having a look at "privacy" and it seemed to be all in order. Must be something I am missing. Are you referring to the cache of sites visited as I regular empty that? Trouble is I think that I am just not as sharp as all you guys. Must be great to be a real Teckie. I am trying to get used to Firefox now as someone mentioned in one of my earlier queries that this might help with the problem of not being remembered. Not the case so far.

I'm crap with computers, but have experienced your problem, if you have CCleaner installed you need to amend the cookies

CC > Options > Cookies > transfer the sites you use the most from cookies to delete (left) to cookies to keep (right) then relog into your sites, and all should be OK.

I am interested to know the answer of this as well. After I updated firefox, my husband told me he has to enter his favourite newpaper website every time when he logs in in btyahoo and it is a nuisance for him as he knows very little about computer. I do not know why btyahoo browser remember some websites he has visited but not all. Thanks

This sounds like bookmarks rather than cookies. If your husband types in the site and opens the page, then clicks on the star at the right hand side of this box this will turn yellow and that page will be put into bookmarks. In the future click on bookmarks and then click on the name of the site to open it. He can organise bookmarks and put it onto the bookmarks toolbar to make it even easier.

I went to Internet Options "Privacy" then Per Site Privacy Actions
    - Managed Websites and my list of sites to be remembered on is
Trusted Sites i.e. there is no left and right for the list to either delete or keep. Am I in the wrong place?

There is a box where I can tick "Require Server Verification". It is not ticked.

I am using Windows XP. I can't see that there is anywhere else to take the actions you recommend. Maybe it would be easier to get rid of CCleaner ???
